Spring is here… my summer holiday is booked and we have all of the bank holidays coming up… so what does that call for?
As soon as the sunshine peeks it’s head of out the clouds and gives England that rare bit of heat, my legs are out.
Shorts with cute little tops or pretty dresses are my preference in the sun. I seem to have a million pairs of shorts but when it comes to summer dresses I don’t actually have that many.
I have plenty of dresses for going out, but I can’t exactly walk the dog in my village in the middle of the day wearing my satin LBD can I?
So that was my excuse to look for new dresses!
To start off my new dress wardrobe I chose three beaut pieces from Select Fashion. When I have bought summer dresses in the past I’ve tended to always pick cami’s or bodycons so I thought I’d try out three different styles that I’ve not tried before.
1. The Floral Print Tea Dress
The pattern on this dress caught me mid-scroll on Select’s website because it’s such a cute print! I really like the ditsy floral print that seems to be in fashion at the moment. It’s super spring/summery and if you can’t wear floral print in May then when can you?!
I also love the style of the dress; it’s really lightweight and floaty with cute buttons down the front and I would maybe pair it with a thin brown belt to bring it in at the waist for a different look!
I’ve paired it with a summer bag and I’d wear it with either flat sandals or wedges to complete the summer look. I think it would also look pretty cute with one of those big floppy hats but I really don’t suit those - I wish I did!
2. The Sleeveless Denim Bodycon
It looks like denim is going to be pretty big this summer. I’ve already seen so many denim jumpsuits, dresses and playsuits so I thought it was time to add some to my wardrobe!
I picked out this super cute denim bodycon dress with poppers down the front. It’s so comfy and fits like a dream. Paired with a cute cross body bag and some sandals (or even trainers) it’s perfect for spring/summer!
This dress also comes in a black denim which would also look cute dressed up or dressed down for summer events.
3. The Cold Shoulder Midi/Maxi Dress
Being 5”1 I don’t often pick out maxi dresses because they usually drown me… but this one is a little different so I thought I’d give it a try. Whilst it’s full length at the back, it’s not actually too long and when paired with heels or wedges it’s the perfect length on me! The front has a drop hem which I think looks super flattering.
Firstly the print caught my eye again - if you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I am obsessed with animal print at the moment so this dress ticked that box. It also looked super floaty on the model and I pictured being on holiday and wearing this in an evening, the wind swishing my dress (not Marilyn Monroe style, just a gentle breeze!).
The cold shoulder style is also something I love - off the shoulder tops are my fave but that little strap just keeps everything in place and also adds a little something extra to the top half.
I imagine I’ll wear this with some gold layered necklaces and wedges.
