If I told you that you could remove a full face of makeup - even that red lipstick and liquid eyeliner - with just a cloth and some water… would you believe me?
I wouldn’t believe me either… but that’s what I thought before I discovered Magnitone London WipeOut cloths.
Magnitone London kindly sent me their new Wipe Out Supernaturals Microfibre Cleansing Cloths to try out. They claim to remove makeup with just water… nothing else needed, not even cleanser.
Obviously I was sceptical at first… I think most people would be.
My current makeup routine includes a mixture of makeup wipes (on rare occasions when speed and convenience is necessary), cleanser, micellar water, toner and makeup remover (not in that order) - so how could one cloth do all of that… with just water?
So I put it to the test and tried them out on a full face of makeup… Let’s take a look at the cloths and how they worked on my face.
The cloths came in a cardboard packaging with a cardboard label wrapped around it (very eco friendly!) - I’ve seen previous versions of the cloth which were packaged in plastic so it’s good to see they’ve changed this!
I’d say the only negative with the packaging is that it’s easy to squash - my parcel was squeezed through the letterbox which meant that the box was a bit squished and looked a bit worse for wear as you can see! However, the cloths inside were still in perfect condition and that’s what matters.
The box contained two 100% bamboo microfibre cleansing cloths. The cloths are eco-friendly and are made of all natural fibres. So far… so good!
Whilst the packaging doesn’t specifically tell you what to do - it’s pretty obvious. It’s basically the same as a flannel (minus the soap)… you add water and wipe it across your face.
The main point is - you need only warm water - no micellar water or cleanser. Just water.
The microfibres in the cloth grab the makeup and dirt on your face and hold onto it, without smearing residue across the face (like makeup wipes do!). They’re even supposed to remove long wear and oil based makeup.
The cloths feel super soft - like brand new fluffy-socks-kinda-soft or like a super soft teddy bear. When you wet the cloth, it doesn’t seem to hold water as well as an ordinary flannel - it doesn’t drip water everywhere either. It just feels slightly damp.
To remove makeup and wash your face you simply wipe the cloth across the skin and watch it work it’s magic.
I found that I needed to add a little pressure and the mascara took a little more work than the rest of the face - but overall it removed the makeup pretty well!
This is what the cloth looked like after I removed my makeup ( I wore liquid eyeliner and red lipstick to see just how good it was!)
Whilst I had no makeup left on my face, I still felt like I needed to use a cleanser and toner - not just to double check my skin was clean but also because of the benefits of using my skincare products.
(My skin also felt a little tight from just using water so I would recommend moisturising pretty soon after using the cloth).
However, the cleansing cloth could definitely replace makeup wipes - it does exactly the same job but without leaving residue on the face and without having to buy more wipes every couple of weeks!
The Benefits of the Microfibre Cloths
So What Are The Benefits of Using A Magnitone London Cleansing Cloth?
- It basically does the same as a makeup wipe but its a one time purchase rather than repeatedly buying makeup wipes.
- It can save you money - by not repeatedly buying packets of makeup wipes.
- It’s simple to use - all you need is water which means it’s great for travelling and you can literally wash your face anywhere.
- You can reuse the cloth 1000’s of times - you can clean it by throwing it in the washing machine at 30 degrees. It’s fast drying too.
- It’s double sided - you can use both sides which means there’s twice the surface area to remove makeup.
- The pack contains 2 wipes so you have a spare when the other is in the wash.
- It’s better for the environment. The cloths can replace makeup wipes - makeup wipes that you use once and eventually end up in landfill…
The cloths can be used 1000’s of times - just think how many makeup wipes you would need to remove your makeup thousands of times… I bet it’s more than a lot!
Genius. I love them!
Like I said before - it won’t replace my entire skincare routine but it will definitely replace makeup wipes for me.
I’ll use the cloths either to remove makeup before I cleanse the skin (like when I would use a makeup wipe) or to wash my face on a day when I’ve worn little or no makeup.
The Magnitone London Wipe Out Supernatural Cleansing Cloths are £15 for a pack of two and can be purchased from Look Fantastic.
