Time for something a little different… I come across so many different beauty products, pieces of clothing and other random things that I LOVE so often so I thought I’d start sharing my faves in a monthly roundup.
So here’s the first of my faves post…. Drum roll please… My October Faves!
1. Biore Baking Soda Micellar Water
Ok so first up is the Biore Baking Soda Micellar Water. I received this from Love Me Beauty to try out and leave a review on their site, along with the Biore Charcoal Micellar Water. So this one was a freebie. I love trying out new brands and new products - you never know if there’s something out there which is better than your current faves so why not try?
I’m a big fan of Micellar water… it’s super easy to use and it removes all makeup really easily. Perfect. My go-to is the Garnier Micellar water (the one with the pink top) but I’ve also tried a few other brands - Garnier still being my fave.
I was a little unsure about the Biore Micellar water and I’d never seen baking soda used in any before… But I thought I’d give this one a try… and I love it!
It works just the same as usual micellar water - pour some onto a cotton pad and wipe over the face - but the baking soda in it works as an exfoliant. It didn’t feel any different to use and I think my skin felt just as soft afterwards… I can’t say there were any noticeable differences though.
I did a bit of googling and found that baking soda is actually alkaline and it can dry the skin on its own but Biore have managed to take the ‘good effects’ of baking soda and not the drying effect. Pretty cool huh?
The Biore Baking Soda Micellar Water is designed to reduce the size of pores in the T Zone and reduce shine without causing any breakouts. After using the whole of the small sample bottle I can tell you that I didn’t have any breakouts whilst using it… my skin felt just as soft as normal and my makeup was removed just as effectively.
So yeah, overall I love this one! You can find it in Superdrug for £4.99 for a 300ml bottle. Currently Superdrug are selling 400ml Garnier micellar water for £4.99 so 100ml more for the same price. So maybe I’ll stick to Garnier for now or maybe I’ll mix it up next time… who knows! Either way it’s another option to add to my skincare routine!
2. Elemis Apricot Toner
Next on my list is another beauty product and one that I’ve actually known of for a few years. I added the Elemis Apricot Toner to my skincare routine a few years ago and I loved it!
After cleansing my skin I would use use 5 sprays on a cotton pad and take it over my skin, avoiding my eye area. It was shocking how much makeup and dirt was left on the skin AFTER cleansing. It really made me realise how important it was to tone.
I have no idea why I stopped using it… I started to try lots of different skincare routines to try and find the perfect one so I suppose when it wasn’t included I forgot about it.
Buuuut it’s back in my routine and I feel like my skin is fresher and cleaner than ever. It’s here to stay this time.
3. Tarte Tartiest Pro Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette
My makeup fave this month has to be my Tartiest pallete by Tarte Cosmetics. I bought this in Sephora in New York and it’s my palette of the moment! (I generally go through phases of fave eyeshadow palettes where you find the perfect combo in one palette and wear that until it runs out and then move onto another palette… anyone else?). My fave colour at the moment is chic which is like a pale beige/nude/camel colour - I wear it on its own (apart from highlighting the brow bone) during the day time and wear it as a base when I’m doing fuller eye makeup.
This palette is such a dream. The eyeshadows are infused with Amazonian clay which blend so well and feel so soft on the skin. This is going to be one of those palettes which I re buy the day I run out of one colour!
It’s £47 for the palette but honestly it’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made.
It took me so long to decide which 5 pieces I wanted to try… their entire knitwear collection is lush (and they’re all so reasonably priced!). I’m kinda obsessed… Okay so I’m not gonna go through each of the five right now because that's literally what I did in my blog post… so… go check it out!
I also picked up this super soft jumper in Topshop in like a beigy-nudey colour. I originally bought it to go with my camel trousers from Boohoo but i’ve found it looks SO good with leopard print! So in the picture below I actually wore it over a leopard print bodycon dress. It’s kinda oversized too which is something I love.
And if I didn’t have too many fave jumpers already… enter the pink and red striped beauty from Missy Empire! I actually came across this one when I was looking for the pink and red chevron jumper from Lasula Boutique (which was out of stock ?) and I’m so glad I did! It's the softest, baggiest, comfiest jumper EVER. I love it! I got it in a size 8 and it’s definitely big enough.
My boot collection grew massively this month… partly because of collaborations with Koi Footwear and Miss Diva… but also because I can’t help myself and I’m a sucker for boots. They’re all so prettyyyy!
Two of my faves this month are boots… the first one is a pair I got from Koi Footwear and they’re a little different from my usual choice because they’re grey! Pale grey too, not dark! (I always choose black boots so this is a first for me!) but how gorgeous are they?! They’re kind of a suede material too and they’re chunky with a platform at the front. These also came in a wine colour and I was deliberating for ages deciding between the wine and the grey. I finally chose grey because I thought they will probably match more colours so I will get more wear out of them.
But the wine might still make an appearance in my shoe wardrobe… watch this space!
The second pair are one of my all time favourite boots and I’ve had so many compliments on them already! These beauties are from iKrush and they’re another chunky platform boot but with laces at the front (and in black of course). These go so well with skinny jeans, leggings, shorts or a skirt/dress… and because they’re so chunky they are really comfy! So many people have saved them on my 21 buttons, I’m shocked at how much engagement these have got!
6. Pretty Little Thing
Anyone else go through phases where you have like a go-to fave website to shop from and then a few weeks later its a different site? Or is that just me?
Well my website of the moment is Pretty Little Thing. I’ve found myself checking the site everyday for the past few weeks, seeing what’s new in and adding to my wishlist like there’s no tomorrow. So I thought I’d share with you some pieces I am currently loving on PLT website.
These aren’t currently residing in wardrobe… but maybe soon?
Black Cord Shorts
These are my no.1 fave right now. I have SO many pairs of summer shorts and summer skirts, they literally have their own drawer in my room. I think the last time I counted I had 27 pairs of denim shorts (I’m serious).
But when it comes to winter, I gravitate to jeans and leggings and not much else (on the bottom half)… so this year I’m making it my mission to mix up my wardrobe and wear more wintry skirts and even a few pairs of wintry shorts…
This pair is the first to be added to my wardrobe because seriously… how cute are they?! And they're cord... so cute!
Mono Knitted Dogtooth Crop Jumper
I’m loving cropped jumpers right now… I’m either wearing cropped jumpers or oversized jumpers… there’s no in between!
One of my fave skirts has two buckles at the top (Topshop) so cropped jumpers are perfect because you can still see the buckles on my skirt underneath but can be super cosy at the same time.
I love the dogtooth print on this crop jumper... it seems to be making a come back from it's last appearance a few years ago!
Morphe 35f Fall into Frost Eyeshadow palette
Morphe is one of my fave, affordable makeup brands - the eye shadow palettes especially.
I already have 35O and 35T and the colours are so pigmented! For the price you could literally have one of each palette. 35F is definitely on my list!
Red Leopard Print Puffer
It’s leopard print… do I need another reason to be obsessed with it? Nope!
The animal print trend has showered my wardrobe this season and it’s not looking like that’s the last of it.
Prettylittlething cream oversized tshirt
Simple oversized tees like this one are the comfiest for lazing around the house... sleeping in... wearing when getting ready to go out... or just pairing with some leggings for a comfy day out.
Plus these neutral tones are super on trend this season so it'll be a staple piece in the wardrobe!
Black velvet split hem mini skirt
So in my mission to have more wintry skirts, this little beauty is definitely on my list… and how soft does it look?! It’s one of those pieces that can be dressed up or down and either way still look amazing. A super versatile piece for only £10. Plus it has a matching top!
Black Stripe Collar Detail Plunge Slim Leg Jumpsuit
Jumpsuits look so sleek and girl boss like… but they’re always way too long on me! I’m such a shorty. I love this one… paired with some heels, a blazer and cute clutch it’s perfect for a winter night out.
Stone It’s Lit Oversized Jumper Dress
The first Christmassy kinda clothing falling into my wardrobe this year! I can see myself wearing this with a pair of long fluffy socks, snuggled up on the sofa watching Christmas films… I think that’s all I need to say.
Neon Yellow Dollar Bill Print Oversized Tshirt
I’m a sucker for oversized tshirts and I thought the design on this one was pretty cool… Perfect with shorts or something comfy for chilling in.
Borg Collar Cropped Aviator Jacket
This comes in black and tan and I cant decide which is my fave!
They’re both super cute and look so comfy! I’m so happy the aviator jackets are still in fashion this year! I bought a couple of aviator style jackets last year and they’re gorgeous!
But… I don’t have a cropped one… so obviously I need to add one of these to my collection.
7. Currently Reading...
The book i’m currently reading is Start Now, Get perfect later. Now I say ‘reading’ but technically I’m listening...
I signed up to Audible this month after seeing a Youtube vlogger talking about it and honestly I didn’t think I’d love it… but I do!
I mean don’t get me wrong, you can’t beat having a physical copy of a book and flicking the pages but at 1.5x speed and being able to carry on ‘reading’ whilst I travel to work and back means I’m getting through my books so much quicker!
Anyway this book is kind of a self-help book (that sound like I have problems.. I promise I don’t! That focuses on how people don’t always get started on things through fear of failure and an obsession with perfection.
I’ll do a full review of the book when I’ve finished it but for now that’s all you’re getting 😉
Has anyone tried any of my October faves? What did you think? Let me know in the comments.
