If you’re a regular Netflix and chill kinda gal then you must have seen the brand new series Selling Sunset plastered all over your Netflix home page, right?
If not then where have you been?
Selling Sunset is the first docu-soap to hit Netflix.
If you’re all about that A-list lifestyle, or you just love seeing how ‘the other half’ live, but also love a bit of reality TV then this show is right up your street.
Adam Divello (producer of The Hills) is the man behind Selling Sunset so if you were a fan of The Hills back in the day then you will love this - it's definitely got that kinda vibe!
What is Selling Sunset?
Selling Sunset is an eight part series filmed in the Hollywood Hills. It's based around a real estate company called the Oppenheim Group who sell luxury homes to the rich and famous. And when I say luxury... I mean million dollar mansions... they look in-cred-i-ble!
The series focuses on six glam girl-bosses who work for the Group and follows them as they sell the luxury properties. We also get a peek into their personal lives too... from their relationships to social events... and all of the drama in between!
When it comes to the properties...
Not only do we see the luxury lifestyle with the incredible views, we also get to see some of the properties being built from scratch.
Buuut, as you can probably expect... any reality series wouldn’t be complete without a bit of drama. And when the girls get hundreds of thousands of dollars in commission for every property they sell, you know there’s going to be a few cat fights... especially when one of the houses has a $1.2million commission up for grabs!
What is the Oppenheim Group?
The Oppenheim Group is the real estate brokerage the show is based around. Founded by twin brothers Jason and Brett Oppenheim, the Group serves the most elite clientele... they have over $1 billion in sales and $300 million in active listings!
Who are the girls in Selling Sunset?
If the clients are so high profile, then you know the girls who are selling the homes are gonna be glam...
From their dresses, shoes and gorgeous hair they definitely don't look out of place showing clients around the luxury properties.
Like any super tight-knit group who work and socialise together... so when something tips the boat slightly, that's when the drama kicks in...
Let's take a look at the girls...
The Queen Bee of the Oppenheim Group, Christine isn't one to shy away from drama and she is definitely someone you want to stay on the right side of!
Christine has been at the Group for over four years so when a new girl ventures into her territory, you know it ain't going to be all rosy until Christine has put her in her place.
Crishell is the latest girl to join the crew. She’s also an American soap star so you might recognise her as Jordan Ridgeway from Days of Our Lives or Amanda Dillon from All My Children.
Being from the UK, I’d not heard of Chrishell before but it was nice to learn about all the girls from scratch!
Crishell’s husband is Justin Hartley, another TV star in America (he plays Kevin in This Is Us) so we are all waiting for him to pop up at some point!
Without revealing too much... Chrishell's entrance definitely stirs things up a little and bring drama from the very first episode!
Mary is a blonde beauty who’s been in real estate for a long time.
In the first series of Selling Sunset, we learn a lot about Mary’s relationship with Romain Bonnet, the French Pastry Chef (who is 13 years younger than her!). We also learn that Mary used to date Jason Oppenheim for a few years before the show started and the pair share dogs, Nico and Zelda, who are adorable!
Former Playmate, Heather, is another blonde beauty on the team. We learn a lot about Heather's personal life and her struggles with her long distance relationship with her Hockey player boyfriend who plays in Europe.
Heather comes across as a genuinely nice girl... but not everyone sees eye to eye with her!
Probably the nicest girl of the group, Maya always seems to be there for all the girls and always has the best advice (plus seems to avoid cat fights... which there are plenty of!).
Maya also has a long distance relationship with her partner who lives in Miami… so spends a lot of time flying between Miami and LA but still manages to look incredible!
Season 1 doesn't show much of Davina in comparison to the other girls... but one thing we do learn is not to cross her! She seems to be one of those girls who 'don't take no shit' and isn't afraid to speak her mind.
How Many Episodes Are There?
There are eight episodes in total, with each one lasting between 27 and 41 minutes.
But, for me, Selling Sunset is one of those series' which sucks you in from the very start, so it feels like you've been watching it forever... but strangely it also feels like you're only on episode two...
When Does Season 2 Air?
Netflix hasn't yet announced whether there will be a season 2, but they'll hopefully shed some light soon!
So, if you loved season 1 and you still have as many questions you need answering as I do (a long list!)... then watch it again (I've watched in 3 times already!) and keep your fingers crossed for season 2!
Let me know who your favourite girl is and what your predictions are for a season 2 in the comments!
